Avery’s work as a performing, composing, and recording artist has brought her to the stages of musical & theatrical institutions including The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, The Indianapolis Symphony, National Sawdust, UNDER THE RADAR FESTIVAL at The Public Theater, Mabou Mines, Performance Space NY’s COIL FESTIVAL, NYTW’s Next Door series, the Brooklyn Museum, and the Museum of Sex.
Avery’s musical project Night Palace has been highlighted on NPR’s ALL SONGS CONSIDERED, Consequence of Sound, & Paste Magazine. The debut album DIVING RINGS appeared on AllMusic’s Best of 2022 and Favorite Singer/Songwriter lists.
As a collaborative vocalist, she has sung on recordings or at live performances with KADHJA BONET, KEVIN BARNES (of Montreal), ERIC BACHMANN (Archers of Loaf, Crooked Fingers, Neko Case), and more. In concert, she has sung backup vocals for ANNIE GOLDEN, BONNIE MILLIGAN, TONYA PINKINS, LARRY OWENS, and other theatrical luminaries.
